The Grantham Area Chamber of Commerce is new. They are, in fact, the newest chamber in the area, marking their second anniversary in 2007. In just two years, they've published not one but two chamber directories, a Web site and helped several local organizations and nonprofit groups with donations and sponsorships. Not bad for a group of 150 retail, service and home-based professional businesses located on the outer edge of the Upper Valley region. In the early days, Howling Beagle Communications helped with PR efforts but soon members were up to speed on communicating with the press and placed articles in local newspapers on their own. The directory was a joint effort between Howling Beagle and Jennifer Shaevel Hopkins of Porter House Design. All 1,000 copies of the 2006 directory went fast; we were wiser this year and printed 5,000 copies of the 2007 directory. Look for your copy this summer.
